Alstom delivers first of 60 Flexity LRVs to TTC
Alstom has delivered the first of 60 new low-floor, zero-emission Flexity light-rail vehicles (LRVs) to the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) under a €275 million (C$396 million) contract signed in June 2021. The contract is due to be completed in 2025.
Alstom’s site in La Pocatière, QC, supports Thunder Bay’s final assembly line in providing component sub-assemblies for the project such as the flat pack, which includes the underframe, side walls, roof and articulation portals, as well as the truck frames.
These 60 new streetcars will be added to a fleet of 204 Alstom LRVs in Toronto. Alstom has also supplied 480 Toronto Rocket subway cars to the TTC and is currently providing a communications-based train control (CBTC) railway signalling solution on Line 1 Yonge–University as well as the Toronto-York Spadina Subway Extension (TYSSE).
